Gasgoo.com (Shanghai October 16) - Over 1.6 million passenger vehicles were produced in China and nearly 1.65 million sold in the month of September, CNR quoted the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers as announcing. Monthly sales increased 15 percent from August and mark the third consecutive month of positive and stable growth. In light of those figures, the CAAM announced that it was not yet appropriate to introduce reforms to repair, replacement and return laws to the automobile industry.

The draft proposal for new policies regarding repair, replacement and return for household appliances has not yet been implemented. Ye Shengji, representing the CAAM, said that due to the complexity of automobile technology and the current state of the market, it was not appropriate to introduce any new reforms that would blanket the automobile industry.

According to Mr. Ye, vehicle recalls are a sticking point in the debate. "[Resolutions for problems with automobiles] are normally a question of manufacturer quality and service, therefore, I believe that before [introducing] the policies for all automobiles, more work should be done prioritizing vehicle recalls," he said.

Mr. Ye also recommended that the policies first be in a different region.
