Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 27) - An event held at the riverside in Shanghai's Huangpu District marks the official international market debut of Lotus' new L5 Sportback, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today. There were over 400 representatives from various media outlets in attendance. The new L5 will be priced between 99,800 and 121,800 yuan ($15,612-$19,053) and will be available in seven different models.

The L5 Sportback (pictured), powered by Lotus' Campro 1.6 CPS intelligent engine and using an ultra lightweight chassis, seeks to combine the British marque's sporting heritage with modern sensibility. The car is a collaboration between Lotus, Malaysian manufacturer Proton and Lotus' Chinese partner Youngman.
