EUROPE'S leading logistics service provider, Dachser, is aiming to double its revenue to 3 billion yuan (US$435.9 million) in the Chinese mainland's market in 2011 by opening more logistics centers.
"Early next year we will review our strategy to assess if additional new space will be necessary in Shanghai for our further growth,'' said Edoardo Podesta, regional managing director of Dachser Far East Ltd.
''At the same time we will start looking more closely at other cities in China such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing and Tianjin,"
Dachser Far East Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dachser Group to deal with business in the Chinese mainland.
The German-based company runs 297 branches across the world, including 15 offices in China. Dachser has doubled capacity of its first logistics center in Shanghai to 6,000 square meters, which opened less than a year ago.
Strong demand
"Our customers' interests and demands have been very strong. We are confident that by the third quarter of this year, 60 percent to 70 percent of this warehouse will be utilized and by the end of the year, we'll reach full capacity," Podesta said.
The company is expected to expand its outlets to 10 more locations in China in one or two years, and it is also looking forward to developing the markets in middle and western China.
