Introduction of 2008 STB Industry Report

The Report to the Seventeenth National Congress of the CPC further points out the importance of “informationization”.
Radio and television, a social undertaking as well as an information business, shall play a more important role in promoting informationization of the country, society, cities and industries. China is now actively promoting digitalization of radio and TV with the purpose of setting up a multi-media information platform-integrating public information communication, information services and cultural entertainment, communication and interaction for people.
The development of digitalization of radio and TV will be realized through development of STB. What’s more, different types of value-added business of digital TV will be realized through development of different STBs. Detailed study of the development trend of STB will be significant for the study of business model of China digital TV.
There are now more than 300 domestic STB enterprises and almost every famous foreign STB enterprise has come to China. The competition is ferocious. GL Research hopes to show people an actual situation of China STB market, through which to promote a sound development of STB industry.
