摘要

Already one of the biggest and fastest growing mobile markets in Africa, groundbreaking liberalisation measures and new infrastructure projects have now laid the foundation for explosive growth in all sectors of Kenya’s telecommunications market. Continued uncertainties surrounding the licensing of a third mobile operator and a second national operator (SNO), as well as difficulties with the privatisation of Telkom Kenya have prevented the market from unfolding its full potential in the past. The telecommunications sector is expected to prove resilient against the current unrest in the country following disputed elections. In the meantime, alternative service providers are positioning themselves to play significant roles in an environment of converging technologies and services.
