摘要

Despite liberalisation Slovakia’s incumbent maintains a near monopoly of the fixed-line market. Alternative operators have entered the market although competitive pressures have forced a number of mergers and acquisitions, resulting in a small number of larger alternative operators. The telecoms regulator has commenced a second round of market reviews, the results of which should improve market conditions and stimulate competition. The report outlines Slovakia’s fixed line telecoms and IT market in 2008, providing an overview of the regulatory environment, profiles of the major fixed line market operators and a variety of useful statistics.
