摘要

The Bionanotechnology Market Insight Report studies the impact of Nanotechnology in various Biotechnology applications. The study focuses on major Applications including Food, Drug Discovery and Delivery, Diagnostics, Device and Tools, and Bionanosensors. Projections and estimates are also illustrated by geographic regions encompassing, North America, Europe, Japan, Asia-Pacific, Israel and Rest of World. Business profiles of 42 major companies are discussed in the report. The report serves as a guide to global Bionanotechnology industry covering more than 500 companies engaged in Bionanotechnology research, development and supply of products and services. Major Contract Research Organizations and Universities serving the global Bionanotechnology industry are also covered in the Corporate Directory section of this report. Information related product developments, partnerships, collaborations, and mergers and acquisitions are also covered in the report featuring graphically represented exclusive exhibits.

Additional Information

Bionanotechnology is the interface between the chemical, biological and the physical sciences. It is concerned with nanometer scale systems that may be produced from a top down approach, where larger units are disassembled, or a bottom up approach involving component assembly. Utilizing nanofabrication and or processes of molecular self-assembly, nanotechnology allows the preparation of a range of materials and devices including tissue and cellular engineering scaffolds, molecular motors, and arrays of biomolecules for sensor, drug delivery and mechanical applications.

Nanobiotechnology is a branch of biotechnology that uses nano-sized tools and templates for executing some biological function. A process that uses biological systems for developing nano-sized systems is also referred to as nanobiotechnology. Therefore, nanobiotechnology can be said to be use of nanotechnology in biological processes, and use of biological processes in nanotechnology.

Global Bionanotechnology market is projected to grow at 35.75%, compounded annually from 2005 through 2012. This growth would be driven especially by application of bionanotechnlogy in Diagnostics, Food, Drug Discovery and Delivery. North America, the leading market (46.51% of global market share in 2006) for bionanotechnology is projected to maintain the leading position throughout the analysis period with its share dropping due to competition by 2012.

Current investments in bionanotechnology research and development efforts by pharmaceutical companies would help in discovery of new drugs. The usage of bionanotechnology in the diagnosis of diseases before the symptoms are manifested increases the market of bionanotechnology in the near future.
