摘要
Business models for content providers remain shaky with operators still charging a hefty 30-50% of revenues. A few initiatives saw some marginal changes occur in 2005 which continued into 2006. The music industry negotiated better deals and on Telstra’s i-mode service, content providers do receive better margins, however no one is using that service. Customer usage takes place on GSM and 3G services. With capped data access, process services will move ‘off deck’. Ringtones and wallpaper still dominate the market followed by music and games. ‘Off deck’ will see increased used of Internet based services and email instead of SMS. However, mobile operators still hold the key to a powerful tool: mobile billing.
