In order to grab a share of the rapidly developing low-price mini notebook PC marekt, major PC vendors rolled out new products during Computex 2008 -- held in Taipei from June 3-7 2008 ii in order to challenge the dominance of Asus in this market segment. Acer was most aggressive, while MSI, Gigabyte, ECS and FIC also exhibited new products. Intel and Microsoft also showed their support for this market. This report explores the development of the new generation of low-price mini notebook PCs, and examines key product trends observed at Computex 2008. MIC analysts visited the Computex exhibition, interviewed representatives from key companies, and analyzed new products from the perspective of the overall development of the notebook PC market.
