The 27.5% market share was the highest level that LG has ever achieved in the segment, compared to 25.9% recorded in the first quarter of this year and 18.1% of the same quarter of a year earlier, the makers indicated.
The second ranked CDMA handset vendor, Samsung Electronics, shipped 8.2 million CDMA handsets for a 17.7% market share in the second quarter, and Motorola followed with shipments totaling 5.1 million units for an 11% share, the makers said.
LG's sales of CDMA handsets in the US market in the second quarter alone reached 7.6 million units, accounting for nearly 60% of its entire CDMA handset shipments, the makers added.
