Abstract
Chinese white wine sector continued the stable growth trends in 2004.The production volume maintained at the level of 3 million tons. The focus of competition lies in the marketing strategy. The gap regarding performance and growth rate among companies is getting larger and larger. The concentration of the industry further inclines to the leading enterprises.
SARS decreased beer production in 2003. And year 2004 saw an explosive growth rate of 15.2% in beer production. The annual growth rate of the beer sector in China will maintain at the level of 6-8% in the future several years, the entire beer sector will keep the stable growing trends, market share will further converge to large-scale firms and the advantages of the leading beer firms will become more obvious in 2005-2006.
In views of consumption preference, brand recognition and culture identity, we hold a very optimistic view regarding the grape wine sector. Year 2004 saw a growth rate of 17.6% in China's grape wine production, which indicated an accelerating development comparing the rate of 10-15% in 2003. The grape wine sector in China will maintain the fast growing trend with a growth rate of 20% in 2005 and 2006.
The 2004 annual reports and 2005 quarter reports of the industry represented big performance differences among the listed companies in the Chinese white wine sector. So will the beer sector. And the performance of the listed companies in grape wine sector went beyond the market expectation.
